Hope theme #2: Collective Action
In our December newsletter, we featured three themes fueling our sense of hope and optimism for the new year. A central concept for us the ability for individuals to pool influence, resources, smarts and actions to create mechanisms of change. You can find examples all around you and throughout history - from social movements to the origins of insurance (check out pirate crew charters for one of the first examples of life and accident insurance).
Here are three groups we’re rooting for right now -
Black Friday Network
A network of black-owned insurance agencies, the Black Friday Network diversifies the insurance distribution system, provides Black insurance professionals with access to insurance capacity and creates opportunity for insurance programs that cater to Black policyholders. (And they just launched their website - the link here is updated from our newsletter.)
Premiums for the Planet
Harnessing the power of insurance for a more just and habitable planet, Premiums for the Planet is organizing a movement of conscientious businesses to push the insurance industry to take action to protect our planet and accelerate the energy transition.
Ad Maiora
Meaning, “toward better things,” Ad Maiora is a community of female insurance professionals building an angel investing syndicate. Based on a culture of education and learning, they are a blend of seasoned investors and first-timers looking to create change within the insurance technology ecosystem.
